weak-minded. ha!

ahhh there are 2 sides to figuring out a twist in a story... on one hand, there's the intellectual satisfaction in figuring out what's coming. ahh still remember that utterly satisfying pride when i figured out that agatha christie plot... but for most other stories, there's the flip side: spoiling the story for yourself -.- u miss the emotional impact the twist was supposed to evoke in you. so u basically just cheapen the story for yourself ugh. and the book i'm reading now is a jodi picoult one some more! evoking emotions is everything in her stories man. bleh.

i absolutely hate it when commanders brag abt their past experiences and use it as evidence for our 'weak-mindedness'. they compare us to the past when they had only 1 water bottle whereas now we have one full water bag; how they survived for thousands of days with only 24 hr ration pack while we have fresh rations; they see the number of ppl falling out, the number of heat cases and call us 'weak-minded'.

naive, superficial and hypocritical shits. these were the ppl who couldn't handle the organic chem that we mastered; these were the ppl who couldn't memorize the formulae that were at the back of our hands; these were the ppl who couldn't write essays for nuts to do passable pw reports and gp essays. pls lor it's exactly cos they didn't have the mental strength, capability and capacity to study for their exams and handle exam stress that they are in the sorry state of enciks now. ugh.

for that matter, most of them can't speak properly. one of the commanders just reads off entirely from the ppt slides and they expect us not to sleep. and their favorite phrase? "your mind are shag". atrocious grammar, rudimentary vocab, horrible articulation (ok la for some only) and basically, barely understandable language. even now... with their ranger, jcc, sar 21, silver bayonet and whatever badges they have... i bet if we threw a levels at them, they'd just all fall out, report sick and commit suicide.

see? they like to generalize. so do i =) following their footsteps ya know. they're training commanders-to-be after all~

ok la lemme calm down and be reasonable. THEY ARE STILL STUPID SHITS. ok hm... i think it's hard to judge mental strength. each person's comfort zone is different and i think mental strength should be judged according to how much each of us is willing to get out of that comfort zone, or the rate of the broadening of that zone. and considering that we were not kampong boys that played in the mud everyday, we are obviously less used to outfield and to the sun's heat. and likewise for them, the fact that they didn't receive the intense academic situations that we faced will make them less capable in handling exams and stress. that's nothing wrong there. but they have the impression that physical stress translates to mental stress which is completely bullshit. the amount of mental stress u face from physical exertion is completely dependent on how fit u were in the first place. so the fact that ppl fall out while others don't from the same activity is no indication of each other's relative mental strength at all. the fact that they don't realize this reveals their lack of insight and empathy... now that is truly detestable.
